I began my professional life as a photographer, and have been using sound with my pictures for more than a decade. In January of 2011, I joined the faculty at Penn State University where I teach photojournalism and multimedia–narrative storytelling using sound, images and text to tell stories.
In 2022 I moved to Florence, Oregon, and joined the journalism faculty at the University of Oregon.
Hi Will… About a decade ago, you did a remarkable piece on adult brain tumor survivors at University of Rochester Medical Center. My husband, David Cross, was one of the patients you photographed and recorded, along with a group of amazing people we knew from the support group we attended. David passed away in 2007 and our three children have asked me several times if I could get a copy of the piece you did. We have no recordings at all of his voice and having a copy of that would mean the world to us. I no longer see it on your website or in your archives, but I am hoping you still have it. It was beautiful. If you do still have it in your archives, I’d gladly pay you for a copy. Could you let me know? Thank you so much…
Hi, I’m Samantha Mottler‘s daughter, I have been looking all over for this video and found out about flash player and thought I’d never see these pictures again, we didn’t have a copy. Unfortunately, this is the only place these photos exist anymore. Even my grandpa has passed now. I honestly can’t tell you how much it means to me that I can have a copy now. Thank you so much, words can’t express even slightly how thankful I am!
I’m so happy you found the video. I only recently updated them to play without Flash. I’m glad it was there for you. All the best, will
It means the world to me, thank you! I hope you and your family are doing well!
